Carrie Mathison is a driven CIA operations officer in the Counterterrorism Center. She's not above using unorthodox (and sometimes illegal) methods to do her job, which is uncovering terrorist threats in and from the Middle East.

When a job went south ten months ago, she was stripped of her authority in the field and shipped home. She lost a lot of her credibility and she's considered a little unpopular, a little obsessive, and a little intense.

Now, she suspects a war hero recently home after eight years as a POW as being turned by Al Qaeda - one Sergeant Nicholas Brody, USMC.
